Neuroconnectivity

From Whole Brain Catalog

We have received many questions regarding the Whole Brain Catalog's ability to collect information about the structural and functional connectivity of the brain. We are in the process of working on a system that will enable this from the WBC environment natively. In the mean time, the following resources may be of interest:

  • NIF Search - Typing in the name of a brain region will allow you to select "BAMSConnectivity" from the list of boxes on the lower left hand panel. This will present a tabular view that lists the known connections to and from that brain region, from the Brain Architecture Management system's database.
  • NeuroLex wiki - The NeuroLex wiki has some statements for projections (see Cerebellum and Thalamus as examples). Additional statements can be added by clicking the edit button.
  • ConnectomeWiki - The ConnectomeWiki is a knowledge base for macro- and mesoscale brain region and brain connectivity information across species. It is built using modern semantic wiki technology. There is also a visualization frontend for the connectivity data.
  • CoCoMac - Cortical conectivity for the Macaque brain
  • NeuronBank - If you are interested in circuit level connectivity in invertebrates, check out NeuronBank. It provides a careful cell-by-cell accounting for the known circuits in several invertebrate species.
