The Whole Brain Catalog, the flagship project of the Whole Brain Project, is a ground-breaking, open source, 3D environment for scientific discovery, conceptualized and developed at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD).

A team of UCSD researchers collaborated in June 2008 to initiate the Whole Brain Project. It merges the newest cyberinfrastructures and software tools with cutting-edge neuroscience research in a shared environment for the worldwide neuroscience community. The research team is demonstrating and making available the Catalog’s beta version 0.7 at Neuroscience 2009, the annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience to be held October 17-22 in Chicago, Illinois. Future phases of this important new tool are to be released in the coming year, and the WBP team plans to engage the scientific community in creating a strategic road map for the Catalog’s future development.
